This two-day course aims to equip delegates with a comprehensive understanding of CBT for Social Anxiety Disorder.
Throughout the two-day course, interactive exercises, case studies, role-plays, and discussions will be used to facilitate learning and the practical application of CBT techniques for Social Anxiety Disorder treatment. The goal is to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively apply CBT principles in treating Social Anxiety Disorder.

Day 1
Morning Session
Overview of Social Anxiety Disorder. Symptoms, impact on social interactions, and prevalence rates.
Fundamentals of CBT. Understanding CBT principles and its relevance in treating Social Anxiety Disorder.
Conducting assessments for Social Anxiety Disorder. Identifying feelings, avoidance behaviours, and negative self-beliefs associated with social situations.
Afternoon Session
Case formulation: Introduction to the CBT model of Social Anxiety Disorder (Clark & Wells)
Psychoeducation about SAD. Educating clients about the nature of social anxiety, the cognitive-behavioral model of social anxiety, and its cycle.
Cognitive restructuring: Techniques to challenge and reframe anxious thoughts related to social situations.
Day 2
Morning Session
Attention Training in treatment of Social Anxiety
Behavioural experiments. Engaging in behavioural tasks to challenge avoidance behaviours and test negative beliefs.
Afternoon Session
Developing effective social skills and assertiveness training to manage social anxiety.
Relapse prevention strategies. Creating plans to maintain progress and prevent relapse in social situations.
Putting it together: how you and your service can put into practice what you have learned; identifying and problem solving barriers, planning and implementation going forward.

This course is suitable for mental health professionals (with or without a core training), including counsellors, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists and individuals interested in gaining insights into CBT
