Mind Over Panic: An Introduction to CBT for Panic Disorder
This two-day intensive workshop is designed to equip participants with knowledge and practical skills in applying Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for Panic Disorder. NICE guidelines support the use of CBT to treat Panic Disorder.

This two-day course aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding and practical skills to effectively implement CBT in treating Panic Disorder.
Throughout the two days, interactive activities, case studies, role-plays, and discussions will be used to facilitate learning and application of CBT techniques for Panic Disorder treatment.

Day 1
Morning Session
Fundamentals of CBT: Understanding the theoretical underpinnings and its applicability to Panic Disorder treatment.
Overview of Panic Disorder. Symptoms, prevalence, and impact on individuals.
Afternoon Session
Assessment and formulation
Conducting assessments for Panic Disorder. Identifying symptoms, triggers, and associated cognitive and physiological responses.
Case formulation. Developing individualised treatment plans based on assessment findings and formulation.
Day 2
Morning Session
Psychoeducation and cognitive interventions
Psychoeducational components. Educating clients about Panic Disorder.
Cognitive restructuring: Techniques to challenge and reframe panic-related thoughts and beliefs, including behavioural experiments
Behavioural interventions .
Introduction to exposure therapy: Gradual exposure techniques to feared situations or bodily sensations associated with panic attacks.
Afternoon Session
Developing coping strategies: Identifying and practicing adaptive coping mechanisms during panic attacks.
Developing plans to maintain progress and prevent relapse.
Putting it together: how you and your service can put into practice what you have learned; identifying and problem solving barriers, planning and implementation going forward.

This course is suitable for mental health professionals (with or without a core training), including counsellors, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists and individuals interested in gaining insights into ACT.
Note: This course provides foundational knowledge and skills for working with individuals but does not qualify participants to practice as CBT therapists. Consultation with a qualified mental health professional is essential for any clinical practice involving assessment, formulation, diagnosis or treatment.
