Grounding and Resourcing

This two-day workshop provides delegates with practical training in utilising grounding and resourcing techniques within a trauma-informed framework. Participants will gain hands-on experience through a series of experiential exercises, demonstrations, and case studies.

  • The two-day course on grounding and resourcing aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the pivotal role these techniques play in therapy. Attendees will explore a diverse array of effective grounding and resourcing techniques drawn from models like Mindfulness, CBT, ACT, and CFT. The objectives include developing the skillset to assess and select tailored interventions based on individual client needs, fostering proficiency in guiding clients through grounding and resourcing exercises, and integrating these strategies seamlessly into their existing therapeutic modalities.

  • Day 1

    Understanding the fundamental concepts of grounding and resourcing in therapy

    Exploring the importance of these techniques in emotional regulation and trauma-informed care

    Overview of different therapeutic models (Mindfulness, CBT, ACT, CFT) and their contributions to grounding and resourcing

    Techniques from Therapeutic Models including:

    Mindfulness-Based Techniques

    Cognitive Behavioural Techniques

    Acceptance and Commitment Techniques:

    Compassion-Focused Techniques

    Day 2

    Assessing and selecting appropriate interventions

    Practical demonstrations and guided exercises for facilitating techniques

    Role-playing and practice sessions for participants to lead grounding and resourcing exercises

    Strategies for integration of grounding and resourcing into existing therapeutic practices

    Customising interventions to suit diverse client populations and cultural contexts

    Putting it Together: how you and your service can put into practice what you have learned; identifying and problem solving barriers, planning and implementation going forward.

    This course combines theoretical knowledge, practical applications, and interactive sessions to equip participants with a diverse range of grounding and resourcing techniques. Through discussions, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, attendees will gain the skills needed to effectively employ these strategies within their therapeutic work.

  • This course is suitable for mental health professionals (with or without a core training), clinical psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists, and individuals interested developing their skills in grounding and resourcing.

    Note: This course provides foundational knowledge and skills for working with individuals but does not qualify participants to practice as therapists. Consultation with a qualified mental health professional is essential for any clinical practice involving treatment.

  • This course is available as an in-house training course, both online and face to face.
