Principles of assessment. Understanding the biopsychosocial model of assessment. Ethical considerations and confidentiality. Establishing rapport and building trust.
Tools and techniques for engagement. Strategies to foster and enable a good therapeutic alliance.
How to manage the emotional content of the sessions. Use of supervision and reflection.
Conveying empathy and active listening skills.
Ability to manage endings. Considering endings from the beginning of interventions.
Assessment structure and framework, documentation and report writing.
Putting it together: how you and your service can put into practice what you have learned; identifying and problem solving barriers, planning and implementation going forward.
The course is taught using a combination of lectures, interactive discussions, case studies, role-playing exercises and demonstrations.

This course is suitable for mental health professionals (with or without a core training), counsellors, psychotherapists, and individuals interested in gaining insights into core engagement skills.

This course is available as an in-house training course, both online and face to face.

Online in house £1350 1 day up to 15 people (max 15 participants; extra participants are charged at £65 per person per day)
Face to face in-house: £1850 plus VAT (max 15 participants; extra participants are charged at £85 per person per day)
