  • Morning Session

    Introduction to cognitive interventions and Beckian model.

    Application of cognitive interventions. Understanding the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours

    Identifying automatic thoughts and cognitive distortions. Recognising and challenging unhelpful thinking patterns.

    Cognitive Restructuring Techniques. Practical exercises to modify negative thought patterns.

    Core Beliefs. Recognising and addressing deep-seated cognitive schemas.

    Afternoon Session

    Behavioural Experiments. How to challenge cognitions via behavioural change

    Role-playing and case studies. Applying cognitive interventions in simulated clinical scenarios.

    Putting it together: how you and your service can put into practice what you have learned; identifying and problem solving barriers, planning and implementation going forward.

  • This course is suitable for mental health professionals (with or without a core training), including counsellors, psychotherapists, clinical psychologists and individuals interested in gaining insights into ACT.

    Note: This course provides foundational knowledge and skills for working with individuals but does not qualify participants to practice as CBT therapists. Consultation with a qualified mental health professional is essential for any clinical practice involving assessment, formulation, diagnosis or treatment.
